Use of technological tools in order to develop initiatives and instruments

Innovative response

Government of Nuevo León developed several technological tools, such as an app within which users can access a daily update on the positive COVID-19 cases that have been identified in the state, as well as the press releases that the state government has issued in relation to COVID-19 and the responses to the pandemic, the Health department also developed a specialized website for the State's Department of Health which contains an integrated chat box and a questionnaire through which users can identify their symptoms and be advised as to whether or not they need to contact local health authorities. Other tools include a hotline for medical and psychological health that operates 24/7 and an automated survey by phone to all households to identify positive cases.

Specific issues addressed and anticipated impact

Use technology to contribute to the the identification of positive cases, supress the spread of misinformation and help with patient care.

Organisations/institutions involved

State's Ministry of Health, Social Communication

Potential issues

Regarding the app and the website, the information presented and the way it is presented is constantly evolving, therefore the application must also evolve to adapt to these changes, as example, the inclusion of cases that have been diagnosed in private hospitals and private laboratories, in addition to those diagnosed by the Instituto de Diagnóstico y Referencia Epidemiológicos. Regarding the phone survey, the questionnaire must be updated if the conditions to identify potential positive cases change, such as the times in which new potential symptoms have been identified.

Issues being addressed:

  • Patient care
  • Information and practice sharing (with public and/or internal)
