Publication of open data of the cases associated with COVID-19. Information from the Viral Respiratory Diseases Epidemiological Surveillance System, which is reported by the 475 viral respiratory disease monitoring units (USMER) throughout the country in the entire health sector (IMSS, ISSSTE, SEDENA, SEMAR, ETC). Preliminary data subject to validation by the Ministry of Health through the General Directorate of Epidemiology. The information corresponds only to the data obtained from the epidemiological study of a suspected case of viral respiratory disease at the time it is identified in the medical units of the Health Sector. According to the clinical diagnosis of admission, it is considered as an outpatient or hospitalised patient. The base does not include the evolution during your stay in the medical units, with the exception of updates to your discharge by the hospital epidemiological surveillance units or health jurisdictions in the case of deaths.

Specific issues addressed and anticipated impact

The information that is being uploaded serves to make transparent the actions and decisions carried out by the SS and other institutions related to COVID-19 in Mexico. Open Data can be accessed, shared and reused. It is considered that with this open microsite, the majority of the Mexican population can be reached, both health personnel and the open population.

All published data can be found within the Mexican government website https://www.gob.mx/salud, information focused to the media, digital initiatives and citizens in general. The information used as official data on COVID-19 in Mexico is generated by the Under-secretariat of Prevention and Health Promotion through the General Directorate of Epidemiology. This with the components of epidemiological surveillance, laboratory diagnosis and monitoring from official and non-official sources. In addition, there are documents generated by other agencies of the Federal Ministry of Health (SS), such as guidelines for medical care, prevention of infections, for closed public spaces, information material for the general population, and health personnel.
